Re: Windows 7
*does commercial like voice* Do you wanna year the best part? It's FREE! That's right! Free for the average user who wants to keep it's pc secure and updated ALL THE TIME, and still be able to do anything he wants, like surfing the web, working, and even playing (Linux Games Recomended)! Besides, it has a better memory management, and it's more resistant to virus than windows! All drivers for any tipe of hardware are already inputed in the SO karnel and the Sistem has an already built-in firewall. It's the perfect work for any Out Of The Box Experience, cause the computer is already prepared for your everyday needs! And for any Windows applicative, there's an Linux equivelent equal or sometimes better (Examples: OpenOffice.org, Blender, GIMP, etc)...
Change for a Linux Distribution NOW!!!! and you get the chance to keep your gaming OS!*does commercial like voice*
Ubuntu is the best distro, so here's the link:

Oh, and in a Linux distro you don't just work on it... you work it!

Ubuntu is free
Ubuntu cant get viruses, spyware, trojans, etc, (99.8% imposible)
Much harder to get user pass words
Much more secure
None of that horse crape trial ware
It will never slow down
It wasn't made by Microsoft.

Re: Windows 7
You wanna know why people don't move to any linux distro? Because they're too darn used to Windows! Linux is better than Windows you $%&/€)(! ! And it's free! Better! You can do anything you want with your OS (everything, really, you only need to know how), thing you can't do with Windows!

The majority of people use windows because that's what comes with their computer.

Also that... Although several brands like Dell, ASUS, Insys and others came with Linux Pre-Installed... People just prefer CrappySoft for some reason...

Actually, i dont want to move because windows is better for gaming. It can run almost any game out there without any problems and it can run the newest games, something linux cant. I'd get linux if it worked better with games.

Re: Windows 7
The problem isn't work better with games! The problem is: games are WINDOWS APPLICATIONS! Wine is for that... run windows apps... But if he can't even run Adobe Photoshop CS4! Games made for Linux work like wonder! Ever heard of America's Army? It had a Linux version which worked excelent! Wine isn't for running games... its to try to convert Windows API in signals that the linux karnel understand... nothing more, nothing else...
Short Story: The problem is: People don't make games for linux, as often as they do for windows, or even mac...

Yeah, well adobe has to start the trend. If you get adobe to make flash and photoshop for Linux, you're going to see a whole lot more games and apps in general for Linux.

Remember my lemonade stand idea? Let's start on that...

Interestingly, I found out recently that a large number of laptops coming with a linux distro don't have an upgrade path for anything but windows.

Re: Windows 7
They come installed with a linux distro, usually Ubuntu, but have closed drivers, therefore it can't accept changes to the binary interface, which happens every update to linux.

Why do they have closed drivers? That's stupid.

Re: Windows 7
usually they come installated with the LTS versions, so there's no problem on program and security updates... but if people want the earlier version, an netbook remix version should do the trick to netbooks and a regular install for most laptops... Except mine, has I needed to do a lot of tricks...

Re: Windows 7
Oh, and those closed drivers, are actually blobs in the karnel, which is every proprietary driver existent for linux...

Re: Windows 7
No we aren't.
I was just about to talk about Windows 7 drivers....
I'm about to get the upgrade shipped in. I hope asus gets their all of their drivers working with it. I'm getting excited to see how this is gonna work.

Re: Windows 7
Well, my teacher yesterday upgraded from vista to Windows 7... He got really mad at what had happened.. He had to do the "Clean Install" option, because it wouldn't upgrade all the way, AND he couldn't reinstall Vista because at one point, his laptop didn't have an OS installed...
Re: Windows 7
LOL... probably he bought an incompatible version... you know how ms is... always putting barriers on everything... although that weird logo they have: "Windows 7, a life without barriers"

Clean install is always better anyway, Terra. Tell your teacher that to annoy him.

It's really better than upgrade... Clean install makes your pc start over from fresh... It's really better...
