Yup... I do love winning xD!

Anyway, I was forced to use a windows 2k driver for my wireless card because it was unsoported by linux karnel! Do you believe that? Took 8 hours to find the darn driver... and when I put 7 in my laptop, I took 9 hours to discover they were in a folder called windows.old... So, I searched all over the web... not even the supposed Vista drivers worked... but that miracle driver worked Very Happy

Dang, your wireless card must be really old.

Cool though, you got it to work!

One reason! Vista! And it isn't changing... it's dual booting! the best about this is that you can have 2, 3 or 4 OSes on the same pc! You could even put MacOS, if it were drivers for every hardware out there...

But why have two OSes if you can have one that works?

Well, that's a different thing. Firefox works with everything that works on IE, is faster, and has a ton of plug ins. Vista works great with almost all games, programs and, well, most things in general. Ubuntu might be slightly faster, slightly less annoying (though you get used to the ''do you really want to do that?'' messages after a while, making it alot less annoying) and doesnt work with most games.

I dont want to do a dual boot to get slightly better performance, it just feels excessive.

Let's see... The main reason is because Ubuntu is FREE, Vista isn't, and while MS call Windows the best "out of the box experience", it isn't true, cause you still need to install a lot of things in a clean install (drivers, office, etc...) while on ubuntu, openoffice.org is ready to use, the drivers already exist inside the karnel (except those hardwares that the companies don't make drivers for linux, that's why the things I had to do...), you already have a photoshop level image editor and you have direct access to a list of open source software to use, instead of searching it on the internet, running the risk of not finding the program you're looking... And if you don't find them is because they don't exist... Oh! It's a lot less vulnerable to virus and a lot more compatible to other objects...

And for the games, you can use WINE, gamega, playonlinux, and a lot of more programs to make it run...

Linux!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its funny I want to work for Google. My uncle works for Microsoft. I hate MS even though I have to use XP on 2 of my family's computers. Apple sucks worse.

Apple's only fault in mine opinion is have only one accessible mac: MacMini... the rest has prices that aren't acessible to most people... they have a good OS (although that major funny glitch of "automatic restore point without user autorization") and the machines are good ones...

I think that if apple controled their prices a little bit they could beat MS pretty quickly...

OR! You need to send them back to the factory, spend a huge amount of cash (enough to buy a new pc with the same capabilities) and wait a month for yor "new" mac to arrive... indeed apple is a lot faulty in that aspect...

But, again on Windows 7 vs Ubuntu thingy, I must say that, whatever you do in windows, there is an equivalent on Ubuntu... sometimes even better! And I'm gonna now try and alternative to guitar hero called frets of fire...

Lets say that I don't use to put WINE on my pc, but depending on your pc you can play Halo: CE or even Age Of Empires 2, now don't try to play Crysis with WINE... the number of API's on Crysis is too high for WINE to handle... maybe in a few years, who knows...

Kind of reminds me of this comic http://xkcd.com/644/

But that's the point, newer games wont work on it, and i'm a gamer. The only reason i've kept windows is because it works with almost all the games out there.

Here's how I work, when I want to play a game, I boot up in Windows.

When I want to do anything other than play games on my computer, I boot up in Ubuntu.

And that's what most people do. It's as simple as pie.

Well, I keep hearing a lot about Ubuntu, which I'm assuming is a Linux product? Anyway, what is so good about linux, and ubuntu for that matter?
