Windows 7
I'm actually excited to be able to get a free upgrade for my laptop.
From what i've heard, it's going to be like Vista, but minus the crappiness.
Hey, just about everyone is up for that right?
I just hope that it doesn't have hardware compatibility issues.
Well, if I does I'll just reboot into Ubuntu. LOL
I typically use windows for gaming purposes only anyways. Well, that and printing off stuff.
See lexmark is gay, so they didn't make a linux driver for my printer.
But, my printer is old and barely working anyways. So I'll probably be getting a new one soon. And this time, I'll make sure it's compatible with Linux. (Most are anyways)
Anyways, back to 7...
I think the best thing about 7, is that it is supposed to be faster than vista. And, it's supposed to be able to be installed on crappy boxes, like netbooks.
Pricing.
If you're upgrading from XP or Vista:
Home Premium $119.99
Professional $199.99
Ultimate $219.99
Not too bad, since Vista prices were a little bit higher when it came out.
I left out the prices for the Starter and Home Basic editions for Windows 7. Why? Because they're complete crap. If you want to know why, google them.
I also left out Enterprise edition, since it's just like Ultimate, but not for the general public.
This OS just might turn out to be as tolerable as XP, if not great.
So, who's going to get it?
Note: I'm only getting it because I get it for free. XD

Re: Windows 7
My school is going to be getting rid of the vista that they have had for some time now. They are going to be getting windows 7 before thanksgiving, so hopefully they will run a lot faster and have less problems. I'm sticking to windows XP with a vista inspirat thing going. It's very lovely combination if I say so myself. I will get a chance to test windows 7 through school, and I'll have more to say about it then.
Re: Windows 7
youre school must be rich. mine still has computers that run on windows 98.

Re: Windows 7
my high school upgrades PCs about every three years. They're upgrading the Mac tigers to Leopard's this year methinks, but I don't know cause I don't go anymore . I have been hearing that it's having some software compatibility issues with programs like my 3d animation program
Re: Windows 7
Well... I was going to get 7 when i heard they were going to have a limited time offer for very cheap vista - 7 upgrades. But of course that's only for the american übermenchen, we dirty, smelly, polar bear loving swedes dont get any limited time price cuts. So i said screw them, i'm keeping vista.

That's like saying:
"I won't give up my dirt for your cake! Filthy Americans!"
LOL!
Have you ever tried out a Linux distribution?

Re: Windows 7
well, not really. It's like saying i wont give up my cream muffin for your slightly bigger glazed jam muffin. I've seen a review of it, according to the review, it's a small upgrade.
And isnt linux incomaptible with, i dunno, everything? Except a couple of printers and some other stuff?

Re: Windows 7
That's one of the biggest lies about Linux.
It's compatible with almost EVERYTHING, except most Windows games.

Re: Windows 7
and what exactly is thingy but a gamer? and to me it's not about cream muffins, its about i have a perfectly fine vista as it is and i'm not going to play along wih microsoft's little gimmicks of bad system good system so that they can keep their massive global empire
Re: Windows 7
Well... Yeah.. I mean, where have you been the last year? And they dont actually say vista's a bad system. Hell, they even made a test to see if people hated it because of stuff they heard or because it actually was bad, mojave test, anyone? It turned out most people actually thought it was good, and almost all thought it kicked XP's ass.
And damn it... Now i want a cream muffin...

What? That doesnt make sense! It has to be a creme pie to splatter over someone's face, muffins dont do that! It's against the basic laws of physics!

Re: Windows 7
you can throw a muffin and it'll splat. well, mos just kind of break up and crumble, but where yours has a bit of gushiness in it, it would splat

Not really. They use it to it's full potential, and it's still really bad. I hate all the glitches that it has, and it's hard to get work done when it all updates because you can't stop it.. The school somehow disabled the way to make it not update.. so all you can do is save what you have, and then wait for the restart..
Re: Windows 7
Darkwing has a point there.
I'm not sold on Windows 7 either. And that's why I'm not buying it. I'm getting it. For free! LOL!
Apple is becoming just as evil as Crackersoft now too. And Google...
I'd rather use a Mac than a Windows OS though.
One other big crappiness about Linux, is that you can't use the newest Photoshop or Flash in it.
That's Adobe's fault, but it still sucks.

(Shhhh! I'm experimenting with Dogma in relation to the tech industry for the sake of humor)
What? Didn't you know that Steve Jobs is a terrorist?
Can't you see the evil in those eyes?

Re: Windows 7
If that looked anything half-like Steve Jobs, I might agree.
I'm getting a laptop. So I'm going to make sure I end up with 7.
Mind you, I will be experimenting with Linux - Ubuntu for its noob-readiness.

Google seem only to be employing people from Norwayatm. And I've had a look - it's nigh-on impossible to get a job for them.

Re: Windows 7
Well... 7 isn't great thing after using any linux distro or being used to use Windows XP, but, with someone who is used with Vista is excelent...
I'm using Windows 7 with Ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala in a dual-boot system... They're both very good sistems, but in tecnical details, ubuntu keeps up beating windows in speed and responsiveness...
