I´m currently starting this topic in a Virtual Machine equiped with an Open source Windows like OS called ReactOS.

Unfortunately, as it is in high alpha stages it seems to have lack of some functions... It doesn´t have the "Alt Gr" function key (aperently, maybe I´ve to play with the Regional Options...), and the default installer is lacking the access to some programs (I´m using Firefox 2 thanks to that...).

Anyway is fully capable of playing games like Halo:CE and is capable of networking access...

Maybe in the next years we will have a free windows like OS out there.

isn't there a config program which allows you to change hotkeys?

i highly doubt it though, gates will probably sue them. and they'll win too, probably.

Not actually... MS did made an agreement with them to show parts of the Windows OS source and allow them to finish the work in a new OS...

I mean, do you know how hard they've been trying to kill the free software market? They've paid millions if not billions to keep the majority of the good games off linux and mac! They've paid corporations to make their software incompatable with linux and sometimes even wine! Unless the 3 ghosts of christmas visited gates, they're not about to change any time soon.

there's a movie, i forgt what it's called, but it's about a bunch of young people who are realy good with computers and they make software open sourcedc for people, and then this massive company hires one of them and they kill anyone else who would have knowledge of this new thing they're inventing and they're trying to stomp out open sourcing, oh come on, we even own the bloody movie, hmmmm, guess i'll have to go look through the dvd collection

Anyways it's based in an outdated version of windows: Windows NT, maybe they alowed it because of that...

Well... Windows itself always suported open source... or microsoft would have blocked OpenOffice.org on their OSes in favour of MS Office... The problem here is... This project it's so slow that I doubt it could ever be finished!

I actually don't blame windows for not being open source.

People like to make money. It's that simple.

How are you supposed to make money when other buisnesses are out there draining your income with something you've made or ripped off.
