A Project Idea
So I gots to thinking last night about a smallish project that could be worked on, and it would be to create our own comic series. I've been itching to do some art along those lines again, and it's been a while since I drew comics but I thought it might be cool if we made it about the storyline of the RP. Now it wouldn't follow the RP per se, but rather, be a scripted story and would go in its own directions. But it's something that everyone could at the very least contribute story ideas, and I know we have some budding writiers here who could write the stories. They could be like weekly or bi-weekly installments of just a couple pages long and it's something we could just plug away at with time.

Re: A Project Idea
blah! that would mean another comic for me!
but, if the art would be good, it would be cool.
problem is, i've never seen any art of you before, besides the forum design.

Re: A Project Idea
Well, I guess I could be a part of the story writing process. And very nice details in your drawings. I suggest trying your hand at various other kinds of art, maybe cell shading and whatnot. Digital types of art, if done correctly, can be time consuming, but very rewarding in the end.
Re: A Project Idea
I would be interested in it.
Maybe even, if you want, write some.

And the shading is superb! I love it!

Re: A Project Idea
depends on how you do it. i just did a piccy which would have cost me more than an hour with pencil B&W shading, but i could digitally color it in about 20 mins.Jaymz Midnight wrote:Digital types of art, if done correctly, can be time consuming, but very rewarding in the end.

Speaking of her, I haven't seen her in a few months... when she left the the forum, she left the house, said she was going to visit some friends up north... I don't know why though, it's probably freezing up there.
@ Emmy - Nice, but is it good?
@Darkwing - We could have me and reaper do storyline, and you and emmy do the actual artwork.

@ emmy
You and Terra? Not really.
In that instance though, yes.
But I was talking about Tierra, my old GF. (Their names are so similar)
(Train of thought: Emmy->Terra->Tierra)

My train of thought never started. The conductor got drunk. XD
I would be willing to help throw in some plot ideas for this if it ever gets off the ground.

well, i would, but my time schedule and my truly HORRIBLE record for procrastination says it would be unwise...
oh what the hey.
oh btw, here's what i did today:
(note, i don't have a drawing tablet, so the lineart is essentially a suped up scan of the original pencil drawing)

Re: A Project Idea
still, despite the quickness of digital, hand drawn still has a certain quality that can't be beat
Re: A Project Idea
Well, it was originally a larger pic which I did to show a fellow comic scriptwriter to continue drawing a comic he and somebody else did, but my time schedule made me reconsider it so i changed it to a little fanart.darkjedi wrote:LOL nice.
Completely true. I still prefer traditional pencil art above digital, I must say. You can probably see I do in that piccy, that was actually the third time I've ever tried digitally 'inking' stuff and coloring it. It looks decent, but not much more.Darkwing wrote:still, despite the quickness of digital, hand drawn still has a certain quality that can't be beat

Re: A Project Idea
actually, that crime noir pen and ink was my first time using fountain pens and ink washes. very nice, i really liked it. now for this comic i wouldn't use a fountain pen r anything, just a .5mm black liquid ink pen, much more control in those types, essential for comics
Re: A Project Idea
so, i was most definitely thinking jaymz as being a full time writer for it and having reaper too would be cool. so we need to decide on some things, one, how frequently do we release an issue, and how big should it be. now, it takes about a month to do 24 high quality pages, so i'm thinking like no more then 2-4 pages per week tops
Re: A Project Idea
darkwing, you work and go to college, right? i'd recommend no more than 2/week at max.

Re: A Project Idea
no, i just work, and then i work on ELZ when not at work. i'm not going to school right now. i would like my focus to remain on ELZ, so it might be possible to do anywhere between 2-4 pages, but only actually trying to do it would determine if it's possible. Especially if the stories are written by someone else, that'll just leave me to doing the drawing which is quicker then me doing both writing and drawing. i'm not going to colour them though, they'll stay black and white, sort of graphic novelish
Re: A Project Idea
Yes, i understand that, but how much free time do you have?
Writing doesn't take that much time, especially with an already premade setting. You have eight hours per day to get a global plot for a page ready, then you only need to have some inspiration, concentration and transpiration and a half hour at max to work out exact plot and poses per panel.
You should consider that if you want to do a decent page, you will need to count AT LEAST a full working day. Considering you're not a very experienced comic artist, even more.
