Design a logo Contest!

some good ideas coming here. i think i'll try installing Photoshop CS3 trial tomorrow and creating my own and doing some of these other ones up in photoshop

yeah, cs3 came before cs4. i use them in order of release, so that i can get the fullest out of them

hmm... i have something interesting in mind, but it will have to be redone as all i have is paint. ill get it done soon... when is the deadline?

well, thanks i suppose. I'm inclined to a design similar to toa's simply for it's clean ness and simplicity, but like what has been said, it is too straight and lacks shiny. I like shiny....droool..shiny

Can you teach me photoshop?

well, i don't know. that's the type of thing they have courses for where people make lots of money teaching it. It took me several years to learn it to the degree that I know it now. I can teach you the basics, but it will be up to you to explore the program. Exploring and following tuts is how I did it. You set your mind to a task, then google how to do it. For instance, with this logo contest, I might say to myself:

"I want to make a text logo that is shiny."

So I go to google and type in:

shiny text tutorial for photoshop

or something like that. That's mosly how I learned the program. i can teach you some, but it will be more fruitfull to ask me questions. Perhaps I'll start a section for this so that others can learn too

I advertised your forum at the VX Forums and the users there complained that their eyes are...bleeding from the look of this forum.

that sounds very much like VX Flash to me. Hmm, usually though they are right, I personally think that this forum looks good so far, it's very simple in design. Oh well, I really have no patience or care for VX Flash

Yeah. But it's not eyebleeding look, but not a very awesome look either. Just...plain. Noy very nice, but plain.

part of that could be because its not finished. there is only so muh one can do for a forum design, you know it's basically limited to adjust the colours, topic bar, link pics, logo and icon pics.

motly because it was simple and sleek. those who can achieve stylized simplicity are usually the best designers. I'm not quite there yet. Sometimes I hit it like with the FT logo, but a lot of times I put too much stuff in my designs, makes it too busy. That's why I'm trying a simpler design with the forum

Some design fits with some words. For eg. A modern forum showing off modern stuff don't go about showing olden typing.
