Just Got Blu-Ray

Yeah, just came into the 21st century of video/audio technology and it is amazing!!!! We watched the beginning of the new Trek movie and it is most spectacular in HD. Now if you don't mind, I think I'll contniue drooling somewhere

Yes, blu ray is pretty awesome. Actually, very awesome. Some might call it the most awesome experience you can get from a movie outside the cinema.

How much did the blu-ray player cost? I'm going to go and assume it was worth it for you.

it was 140 dollars and it came with the dark knight in blu-ray too which is awesome

I just have HD movie channels to watch on my industrial grade gigantic plasma flat screen, that my parents got for a third of the store price.

Plus, I have a DVR. LOL

I'm anti blu-ray, so it will take torture for me to actually by a new player.

one of those huh, well i like it and it's very cool. i highly doubt i'll use those extra feautures like BD Live and stuff, but they're there if i ever want to

Yes... The DVD uses a red laser. The thing that makes the blu ray so much better is it's blue laser.

no, i know that, there's another fro mof HD technology which uses a narrower red laser giving even better quality then blu-ray

why do you need to rebuil it? we're not going to. blu-ray plays DVDs far better then DVD players play DVDs, we're just gonna collect BD from this point forwar, not scratch out our whole collection. I imagine some things that we'd really like to say as BD we might get, things like Iron Man and Serenity, but we're not gonna rebuild our entire collection. It'll be pointless anyways, by 2013 half the market;s gonna be 3d anyways

And yes, that's one of the good things with Blu ray players, they can play DVD's too, and with a much better quality. The bad thing is that it'll probably be replaced by something even better in like 3 years.

What? Seriously?

3D is just a gimmick. And not a very good one either. I think things are going to stay flat till we can invent the holodeck. Well, except it wont really be a holodeck... More like some of NATAL's features, a helmet with a screen and smell and some way of moving and interacting with the world. And of course just a screen and smell helmet in the case of movies.

But if everything goes 3d, the entire movie and TV branch of entertainment is ruined for me.

agreed, i dont want any damn 3d glasses to watch tv! (i already need prescription glasses)
