Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
Nah... Only if they had an huge Super Computer (I mean, something like IBM or the military use to do) running a BOINC server with all the computers in the world and all of them had BSOD... And it would only swallow the MS HQ... Thank god to Mac and Linux users! And also people who shut down their windows before it ocures!

Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
actually, a lot of people put windows on a mac, as it allows things like running exe files work because most software is made exe and not dmg and there are other various reasons people would do it. but it usually comes down to being able to run certain software on your mac, or vice versa, you can boot into any os if you have it installed i believe, it's just there are different ways of doing it

After changing the BIOS a few times, it's all fine. 7 seems like a (slightly) better version of Vista.

Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
Well of course it's better. Nobody likes Vista, and plus Vista had way too many problems.
Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
But still, only a small difference.

Okay JayMZ, I'm sorry, I was completely wrong! Windows 7 is so much better!
Sorry guys, but linux cannot compare to this distro.

Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
Yes, it can... You mean mac cannot compare to the version of windows! Althought it is visible that it has a lot of features from both mac and linux...

j, why are you always so utterly defensive of linux like it's a god or something. heck if 7 was better then a mac, i would admit it. now i haven't used 7 yet so i can't compare
Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
I think I have comited some mistakes...
Windows 7 is almost as good as MacOS... And it's really visible that they copied some of it's components...
And is true... you can't compare mac with windows... It still surpases it...

Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
It depends on how you look at it, and what your needs are.
If you enjoy customizing things to death, doing high level tech savvy stuff, then Linux is the best.
If you are a gamer, and you need a simple interface, Windows is the best.
If you are an artist and need a simple interface, Mac is the best.
Really, if you've never used Linux before, you can't really say anything.
In Linux, I have complete control over my computer.
Security is better, and I can change the interface to my personal liking.
Using the system is usually as hard as you want to make it. Though, you will always need to be at least a little bit tech savvy to use Linux. At least that's how it is now.
The only problem with Linux, is the fact that there aren't enough companies developing software for it.

no, that's actually a good thing. companies working on it means there's money involved. that cannot be good.darkjedi wrote:The only problem with Linux, is the fact that there aren't enough companies developing software for it.

Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
Well in many respects M, it's the lack of any investment that's holding linux back. Canonical, with a relatively modest budget has forged a dominant position in the linux world, but its the hardware downsides that get me. For example, Windows 7 (fairly bloated, like all microsoft) is working faster on my laptop than Xubuntu(lightweight). I would presume this is more of the reluctance of hardware companies to suit their products to linux use.

Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
Well... Indeed shem... There are several hardware companies that don't believe in Open Source and usually don't release drivers for the hardware... But they could at least release the devices specs and told someone with a strict commitment to the company to make a driver for linux...

Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
Indeed... But it only works with Network related drivers... It was nice to have suport for some extra hardware that doesn't work even with emulators...

It's like WINE - it works(usually), but you get reduced performance

Re: One Reason To Hate Linux
But the objective of Linux is to not need a big computer to run it...

Well yes, but the objective of Linux is also not to run windows programs either...
